The votes have been tallied, and the contestants in this year’s NC/DC competition are gearing up for the semi-finals.
The first round of the annual competition was held on Friday, April 1, in the Christ Chapel. This round featured 10 singing acts, all comprised of NW students.
The next day voting was opened up to the NW student body to choose their five favorite acts.
After the voting period the five groups to advance to the next round are The Croc Crew, Metanoia, Jenna and Sam, The Ruby Reds, and Mansion Pants.
This week I caught up with each of these groups to hear their thoughts on the competition, aspirations for the future, and to weigh in on a question that’s really been bugging me recently.
Make sure you’re back in Christ Chapel at 9:00 PM on April, 9 as the five NW semi-finalists will be going head-to-head with five acts from Dordt.
After the semi-finals, students from both Dordt and NW will have a chance to vote for their favorite acts once again.
The top two groups from NW and the top two groups from Dordt will advance to the finals.
The finals will be hosted by Dordt College on Saturday, April 16 in the BJ Haan Auditorium.
NW freshman Abbey Slattery took hom the grand prize at last year’s finals, so everyone is eager to see if NW can defend it’s title for the second year in a row.
