The Northwestern Red Raiders Volleyball team has had an outstanding season this year with lots to highlight and celebrate. The most notable accomplishment is being ranked #1 in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) division, which includes every conference in the nation, not just the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
They have had an undefeated season which took the entire nation by storm with 29 wins and zero losses, and 16 wins zero losses in the GPAC conference. This is the third time in NW’s history that the volleyball team has accomplished an undefeated season in the regular season. The only other times this hashappened was in 2019 and 2010. The Raiders have a large chance of making it back to the NAIA championships and possibly rewriting history with a win after taking Runner up last season.
The Raiders took an impressive win last Tuesday, Nov. 5, against our rivals: Dordt. the 3-0 sweep has solidified their #1 ranking in the GPAC.
Some notable players during the game were Liv Reitsma who had 18 assists throughout the game.
Jazlin Douma was the leader in kills through the game with 14 total kills.
Overall, NW’s volleyball team has shown such immense talent and perseverance throughout the entire season, and it has been a joy to watch these girls grow and become a team. Their next game on Saturday November 16th in the Bultman center at 7:00pm. Come and support the girls as they take on Concordia.
