The Student Activities Council’s (SAC) BINGO event was held once again on Friday, Jan. 17.
The event drew a massive crowd as hundreds of students showed up to have a good time and try to win one of the prizes.
The prizes were split into tiers with the low tier including items like a puzzle, a curling iron and a set of towels; the middle tier featuring a Keurig, a hammock and a dartboard; and the third and largest tier including items like a TV, a Roomba, a record player and more. There were a total of 27 prizes for students to win
The event began at 7:00p.m. and lasted for 15 rounds, with some rounds having multiple winners, for a total of 27 winners, one per prize. Different types of rounds kept the games interesting with participants needing to get different shapes to win, shapes included classic 5 in a row, a cross, a 2×2 square in the upper right corner and even a heart.
Students who showed up dressed as grandparents received an extra card to increase their chances. The crowd was a colorful mix of students in various levels of commitment to their costume, with some simply wearing a plaid shirt, and others with dyed hair or even toting props like walkers.
Students had a lot to say about the event. Sophomore Theodore Miller said “Bingo night was a thrilling adventure. I will definitely win next year”.
One of the night’s winners said, “It was cool to have gotten one of the prizes, and having more towels and washcloths will save me some money on laundry.”
Students were also quoted as saying “I liked all of the old people costumes” and “the college needs to buy new blotters.”
Students got to experience the highs and lows of the game of BINGO with ecstatic shouting by winners when they got a BINGO and groaning by the losers of the round knowing they missed their chance at winning a prize that round.
BINGO night continues to be the most popular SAC event of the year and it is clear why. Winners and losers alike enjoyed a couple hours of fun, the thrill of the game, fellowship with friends and bonding over the emotional rollercoaster of BINGO.
