The 37-year-old Australian pop singer Dean Lewis has recently released his third studio album entitled “The Epilogue.” Best known for songs such as “How do I say Goodbye” and “Be Alright.” Lewis has amassed quite a following since his first emergence into the world of entertainment with an average of 17.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Released on Oct. 18, Lewis’s new album is full of songs that leave many listeners feeling reflective on their lives, as they give off a certain feel of gentle wonder while focusing on topics related to romantic relationships of the past and present.
In one of the more notable tracks of the album entitled “Empire,” Lewis talks about his hope for reconciliation in a relationship. He goes into his need and desire to make amends and keep his relationship with the woman the song is about. Lewis makes comments in the song about how this woman will always have a home in his heart, reflecting on his desire to keep her in his life, however at the end of the song, Lewis also tells himself to leave his feelings in his head, so as not to make a mess of whatever goodness is left in the relationship. He sings a powerful line that anyone that has been in a similar situation can relate to when he says “Oh, I don’t want to feel again.” This line relates to audience members because of the truth it tells about what it’s like to hurt someone you love so badly that the situation, whether it be an argument or otherwise, is detrimental to the relationship.
Lewis brings out the real, raw, and honest truth of how it feels immediately after those situations and the feeling that in the end, maybe relationships can be more painful than positive. This message mixed with Lewis’s natural talents and gifts make this song and others in his album feel real, relatable and just flat out honest.
Lewis’s newest album is a well-put together blend of emotion and talent that continues to appeal to fans from the past and may very well draw in many more fans that will only make his presence in music bigger as he continues to produce music.
