The Red Raiders started the cross country season with a victory last Saturday, Sept. 11, in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Northwestern won the meet with a total of 36 points. Dordt came in second with 55.
Senior Charity Miles finished second overall with a time of 19:20 and senior Sara Hess placed fourth with 19:41. Senior Jenna Sorensen finished in eighth place with a time of 20:03 and junior Teresa Scholten finished right behind her with 20:13. Freshman Dawn Gildersleeve squeaked by senior Heidi Hildebrandt as they picked up the 13th and 14th overall finishes for the Raiders. Sophomore Leslie Stover wound up 17th overall after running 20:48.
Junior Allison Weeldreyer and sophomore Corrine Muyskens also finished in under 21 minutes. Weeldreyer ran a 20:48 to place 18th, while Muyskens placed 21th with 20:57.
