“I am so grateful for the military and feel responsible to uphold the ideals that they sacrificed for – things like freedom, the right to have a voice in our nation and protection of the innocent.”
Even here on campus we have students, faculty and staff who have served in the military. One of these people is freshman graphic design major Anika Snow. Snow currently serves in the Air National Guard where she originally enlisted her senior year of high school. Snow choose to enlist in the Air National Guard for the opportunity to work for something bigger than herself. Snow recalls her time served so far and is grateful in many ways “For me, I think it was very wise to take a year off and be taught by higher-ranking individuals so as to help me later in life as I pursue a civilian job,” Snow said. Snow has currently served a year and a half out of her six-year contract.
This Friday, make sure to stop, take a moment and be grateful. Be grateful for those who have served, for those who have lost their lives and for those who come back different than when they left. Remember those who have served and give thanks, in whatever way that may be.
