With Halloween around the corner, jack-o’-lanterns and creepy decorations have made their annual appearance. Many students have wandered off campus to find the nearest corn maze or haunted house. However, there will soon be a Halloween attraction right on campus.
“Haunted Hospers is an event where Hospers is transformed into a haunted house for the entertainment of the student body,” said Brittany Caffey, the resident director of
Hospers Hall.
Last year, the idea for Haunted Hospers was suggested at a resident meeting. It ended up being a popular event among students, and Hospers residents hope to make it an annual tradition.
“Everyone from Hospers is invited to be involved with helping,” Caffey said. “This is a place for people to have heightened senses, have fun and laugh together.”
The theme for this year’s Haunted Hospers is “Grim’s Fairytales.”
“It’s definitely creepy,” Caffey said. “There are a lot of startling parts. Some people might scream or jump. I wouldn’t say it’s terrifying, but without a doubt it’s shocking and surprising.”
Admission to Haunted Hospers is $1, and all proceeds will be donated to The Bridge, which provides transitional housing for women and children.
“We wanted to be able to help others while still having a fun time with the rest of the student body,” Caffey said.
Haunted Hospers will take place from 9 until 11 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, in Hospers Hall.
