On Tuesday, April 7, the Northwestern Men’s Golf team traveled to Sioux City to compete in the Third GPAC Men’s Qualifier.
This was the Raiders’ first competition since they kicked off their spring season at the Midland Invite on March 25. In spite of the wet and chilly conditions, the Raiders managed to shine, clinching the first place spot.
Freshman Justin Kraft led the team shooting a 76 (+4) on the day which managed to tie him for second place along with Morningside’s Keegan Bok. Fellow NW freshman Evan Schuler was not far behind with a 77 (+5) for the afternoon.
As a whole the team shot a 312, placing them ahead of Hastings by three strokes. The team featured additional performances by Ryan Christy, Colton Kooima and Jordy Reindeers.
Kraft’s impressive performance helped keep him on top of the GPAC cumulative rankings for the qualifiers thus far.
NW’s next meet will be the two-day Buena Vista Invite on April 17-18 in Storm Lake. On April 27, the Raiders will compete in the fourth and final GPAC Men’s Qualifier, which will be hosted by the Raiders at Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City.
