Pizza is one of the most beloved foods in America. There are many ways a person gets a pizza. They could make one themselves, make a frozen pizza, go to a local pizza place or buy from a national chain. When it comes to national pizza chains, one stands out among the rest: Little Caesar’s. Little Caesar’s has a reputation as the lowest of the low when it comes to pizza; however, this reputation is unearned and dead wrong, because Little Caesar’s is the best national pizza chain.
The strongest opening argument in favor of Little Caesar’s is one that even the most ardent Little Caesar’s hater will grant: that at the very least, the pizza is a good price. The premier menu item at Little Caesar’s before the rampant inflation of the past few years was the $5 Hot-N-Ready pizza, and although it was not particularly big, it was still leagues cheaper than any other pizza of the same size. Now, after inflation, the Hot-N-Ready pizza is gone, but what has taken its place is the same pie for the new, still low, price of $6.99. Beyond the Hot-N-Ready and its successor, the rest of the Little Caesar’s menu is incredibly cheap, with most items coming in under $10. Even looking past the price, what most people will not admit is that Little Caesar’s pizza is good.
Little Caesar’s pizza may not have the topping selection that other places have, and their pizzas may not look as good either, but when it comes to taste a classic pepperoni from Little Caesar’s would stand toe-to-toe with any other pepperoni pizza and probably win. Additionally, Little Caesar’s offers a different type of deep dish than what customers are used to. Most deep-dish pizzas increase the amount of sauce, using the heightened edges of the crust to keep it from spilling out. Little Caesar’s on the other hand, increases the amount of crust across the whole pie, while keeping the sauce and cheese mostly the same. It is a matter of taste which of the options a person prefers, but Little Caesar’s offers something unique, and in my view better, to the consumer.
Little Caesar’s is also the last national pizza chain to have personality. Pizza Hut has abandoned their classic buildings, and snazzy interiors for bland buildings, that look dull and gray on the outside and more closely resemble the dining room from a cheap hotel’s continental breakfast, than that of a real restaurant. Dominos, Papa John’s and the others are all equally lacking in aesthetic. Little Caesar’s to this day has a distinct colorful look, bright orange, and a cool mascot to boot, something the other chains are sorely lacking. Little Caesar’s logos consistency and charm across the years is especially refreshing in an age where every corporation is in a race to see who can destroy their mascots the fastest.
Another unappreciated piece of the Little Caesar’s experience is the speed with which a person gets their order. I have, on several occasions, walked into a Little Caesar’s, place an order and left with my food in approximately 10 minutes. This service time is made even more impressive given that Little Caesar’s usually has unmotivated employees, one criticism that is fully earned.
Little Caesar’s is not only cheap with quick service, but it is delicious and better tasting than other more expensive chains like Papa John’s and Dominos. Some other chains and pizza places are better, but it is rare to find a pizza that is better than Little Caesar’s to justify paying double or more for the same amount of food. Little Caesar’s is the best option for a person’s tastebuds and their wallet.
