Sophomore Neil Malenke shot a personal low of 68 (-4) during Tuesday’s GPAC Qualifier in Yankton, S.D. to put himself in first place in the first of four rounds.
Just shy of Northwestern’s all-time low (67), Malenke led the Raiders to a team score of 298. Nebraska Wesleyan edged NW out by two strokes to take the first place team finish.
Two other Raiders finished in the top 20 on the day. Freshman Jay Monahan tied for 14th with a score of 76, while sophomore Kyle Stanek and junior Michael Clark finished with 77 to tie for 19th.
Last Saturday the Raiders attended the Mount Marty Invite where Clark took a first place finish with a two-under 70. Clark earned medalist honors for the first time with the best finish in his career.
NW shot a 291 and fell to Morningside by just two strokes. Malenke finished eighth (one-over 73), while Stanek and Monahan tied for ninth (74).
