Most people have someone to look up to as a role model or inspiration. The dictionary defines inspiration as the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something. Inspiration can be challenging to understand and describe because what inspires one person may not have any relevance for another. This usually is because an inspirational person that is someone that others want to take on certain personal traits or certain aspects of their routine.
In some cases, it can be a teacher, another student, a parent or a mentor. But it can also be someone that is seen many times and may not have ever met. Pro Athletes at both professional and college level can become inspiring people that influence and inspire younger generations.
When answering this question, especially in Iowa, a common athlete that is mentioned is Caitlin Clark, a senior basketball player who plays for the Iowa Hawkeyes girls’ basketball team. One student said that she is inspired by the way “Caitlin does not get angry even when the game gets harder and that she is very team oriented.”
As well as college role models, some professional athletes can also have a major impact on people. Whether it was 30 years ago or right now, there is always someone looking up to an athlete. For some of our parents their inspiration or role model could have been Micheal Jordan or even Tiger Woods in the PGA tour. In today’s generation it could be Stephen Curry in the NBA, Tom Brady in the NFL or Alex Morgan on the United States Women’s Soccer Team. Each and every one of them has a story that can inspire and light a spark in another young child or athlete like they were so long ago.
All of these amazing athletes have stories from their lives of past experiences and failures to great successes that they try to share with the world; Where a child can possibly grow up and become a high school athlete, then to college sports where athletes can then take the next step and fulfill what they were always inspired to do just like their role models.
