The Student Activities Council plans many events throughout the year, but this coming week they are planning a new event for campus.
“The game is called the Turkey Find,” said Nathan Wheeler, leader of the Games and Competitions Committee.
During the week of Nov. 17–21, the SAC will hide a turkey around campus. Clues regarding the turkey’s whereabouts will be sent out via email after chapel starting on Monday.
“It will basically just be a mad rush to wherever the turkey is hidden,” Wheeler said.
The idea came from SAC member Cayla Slattery who played this game at her high school.
“Nathan told our team we needed another fast and fun game before Thanksgiving break so I thought, ‘This is fast and easy, we should just do it,’” Slattery said.
“Since it’s fall, we were thinking the prizes will be pumpkin bars or pumpkin pie,” Wheeler said. “Also, there might be gas cards, gift cards or Old Factory gift cards.”
After finding the turkey, the winner of the day must email Nathan Wheeler to meet with him to claim their prize. Prizes are limited to one per person.
Northwestern has done an activity similar to the Turkey Find in the past.
“We used to do something called the Medallion Hunt during the week leading up to homecoming,” said Aaron Beadner, Director of Student Programs. “The medallion was hidden somewhere on campus for people to find. In many ways this is a fun reboot of that event.”
Whether the game will become an annual event remains to be seen.
“I think if it goes well this year we might continue to look forward to it next year,” Wheeler said. “We are just going to see how it goes. It’s just a fun activity for the campus to be involved in.”
Upcoming SAC events include the Winter Formal on Dec. 6 at the Prairie Winds Event Center and study breaks during finals week.
Tonight, SAC is hosting the annual dance, Club at N-dub, where you can dress as a salad dressing of your choice.
