October is here and with it, comes all of our favorite fall activities such as pumpkin carving, baking and of course, watching your favorite fall movies. There is something about wrapping yourself up in your coziest blanket, sipping on a mug of hot chocolate and snacking on classic fall snacks like carmel corn and candied apples that makes watching a movie on a cold fall evening so pleasant. Unfortunately, we all run into the same issue after everything else is set, which fall movie should you watch? You could play a classic movie that you watch year after year, but what if you want something new and different? What if you do not want to rewatch the “Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Special” for the thousandth time? Where do you go? What should you choose? You could look up a list of fall movies on the internet, but chances are you will get a variety of movies about falling or that are really summer movies released in the fall.
Your best bet to finding the perfect fall movie is to go to a friend, or even a few friends, who have their own fall favorites, or see if you can find an article with a good variety of suggestions. This way, you will hear options ranging from “Halloweentown” to “Hallmark” movies and maybe even hear some suggestions you did not even know were fall movies. You might even get a few television show suggestions in the mix, which is perfect for anyone who loves to binge watch, or if you want to make getting cozy and watching something fall related a normal practice to unwind and relax. No matter what suggestions you may get, it’s almost a guarantee that you’ll find something you will love or at least enjoy.
After a recent survey of a small group of female Northwestern students, the variety found in favorite fall movie and show suggestions creates a wide range of options. Ranked from most mentioned to least mentioned, here is a brief list of fall favorites that a handful of NW students would suggest: “Hocus Pocus,” Gilmore Girls,” “It’s the Great Pumpkin – Charlie Brown,” “Knives Out,” “The Princess Bride,” “Wednesday,” “Remember the Titans” and the Harry Potter series.
This list of suggestions is a great place to start for anyone looking for the perfect fall movie. It consists of a variety of genres including thriller, romance and sports drama. It is also full of family friendly options that you can watch either by yourself or with friends and family of all ages. So, if you ever need to know what to watch this season, use this list as a reference or just ask a friend.
