Coach Hoftyzer’s women’s golf squad shot a 333, which matched the lowest team score in the program’s history. The meet was hosted by Dordt at The Ridge Golf Course in Sioux Center on Friday, Sept. 9.
Northwestern finished in third place at the 14-team invite behind last year’s team champion Morningside (327) and runner-up Dakota Wesleyan (328).
Freshman Emma Wynja led the Raiders, shooting a career-low round of 80 and finishing in fourth place.
“I’m just glad to come in my first year and serve the team. It has been so exciting,” Wynja said.
NW sophomore Taylor Kline played her best round of golf this season, finishing tied for seventh with a score of 83, besting her previous personal record by one stroke. Senior Andria Hinz and freshman Betsy Wallin tied for 12th with an 85. Freshman Jess Locker rounded up the scorecard tied for 34th with a 93.
NW will compete in the first round of the GPAC Qualifier today. They will again compete at The Ridge in Sioux Center.
“We hope to come together as a team, and improve our team score and win the tournament,” Wynja said.
