The Northwestern women’s soccer team fell 1-0 to Briar Cliff on Tuesday, Nov. 4 in the GPAC Tournament quarterfinals. The loss ended the Raiders season at a 7-10-2 record.
Briar Cliff capitalized on a controversial red card given to senior forward Tyler Farr, and the Chargers scored the lone goal of the contest off of a penalty kick.
Briar Cliff out-shot NW 16-7 in the contest.
“Briar cliff is a tough team,” said senior forward Tyler Farr. “Both teams really wanted it, and we had chances in the first half, but we were just unable to get that last ball in. It was a hard fought fight.”
Junior midfielder Michaela Gibson led NW with four shots and two on goal. Farr recorded two shots with one on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Naomi Schimmel made 13 saves.
“The program here at NW is more than just a team,” Farr said. “We are a family. We have gone through some tough times, but we have built this program to be a family above all else. We love each other, and we work hard for each other.”
