Looking for love just got a little easier at Northwestern. If you are anxious about finding that ring by spring, you might try looking for that special someone at this year’s Speed Dating event, hosted by the SAC. On Saturday, Jan. 30, at 9:30 p.m., students are encouraged to come to the Hub and have some fun meeting new people.
The SAC will line up tables with men sitting on one side and ladies on the other. In typical speed dating fashion, each person will have two minutes to talk to the person sitting across the table.
“We will have questions prepared, but we want to encourage you to bring some of your own questions,” SAC Core Group member, senior Courtney Drenth said. Two years ago junior Jennifer Nilson attended and said the more creative questions made the evening fun.
“One question I was asked was, ‘When we’re married someday, would you allow our son to skip school to play video games with me?’” Nilson said. “These questions definitely added some extra entertainment.”
The SAC has come up with some of its own ideas on how to lighten up the mood of the evening. “For more fun, we will have brain teasers and trivia questions throughout the night,” Drenth said.
Along with providing a place for students to meet new people, the SAC is also giving away prizes. Students can win the prizes by completing the trivia or challenge with the person sitting across from them at the tables. The prizes vary from movie packs and pizza to front row seating at SAC events.
“I would definitely recommend going to this event,” Nilson said, “whether it is to find love or just for fun.”
