The Northwestern women’s soccer team split two games at the annual Pizza Ranch Classic this past weekend in Orange City. On Friday night, the Raiders knocked off Presentation College 2-1 for their first official win of the season. Presentation opened the scoring in the 23rd minute before Jessica Carver leveled in the 28th for NW and Madi Bertman scored in the 55th to take the lead. Goalkeeper Madison Fordyce held off the Saints’ attack, piling up seven saves during the back-and-forth contest.
NW closed the Classic with a 2-1 loss to Bellevue. The Raiders fell behind early, but were able to level through a Jennifer Inge header before Bellevue took the lead for good in the 61st minute.
The Raider men picked up their first win of the season, defeating Presentation College 6-1 on Friday night. NW picked up goals from Wesley Lockwood, Breno Fabbri, Daniel Zapata, Morgan Newby, Braxton Williams, and Tyler Limmer.
NW picked up a 4-1 victory against Bethany College. After falling behind early, Cole Cruse was able to pull the Raiders level before halftime. NW ran away with the game in the second half with goals coming from Dylan Hengst, Hartick Tarr, and Alex Schussman. The win pushed the Raiders’ record to 2-3 overall.
