Christian music artist David Crowder will perform at Northwestern’s Rowenhorst Student Center as a part of his American Prodigal Fall Tour at 7 p.m. Thursday Nov. 2.
Crowder’s American Prodigal album features new hit singles such as “Run Devil Run,” “My Victory” and “Forgiven.”
The concert at NW in Nov. will include these singles, as well as several others from the album.
Crowder’s American Prodigal Fall Tour begins Oct. 24 with a concert at Western Kentucky University and will continue through November with a final concert Nov. 16 at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise.
According to Crowder, the inspiration for his tour came from a “town divided” and the realization that “we’re all just dirt and water and the breath of God.”
Originally from Texarkana, Texas, Crowder has experienced living in a part of the U.S. where Texas and Arkansas overlapped and were always on the verge of a competitive spirit.
Crowder recalled, however, that “the difference between the two states is not something that can physically be felt, just a social riff instead.”
As for the inspiration for American Prodigal, Crowder said it originated from the realization that “diversity and difference are created by humanity and the riffs that this country creates are not meant to be backed away from.”
Crowder experienced this concept first-hand in Texarkana and Atlanta. Though blessed to live in Atlanta, Crowder contemplated why he still felt like an outcast in a new place.
“Then I realized,” Crowder said, “[that] maybe what I’m supposed to be doing, having been lavished upon, is pointing out that a person can stand right there in the divide, brave and free, and not feel a thing.”
This realization led Crowder to label the theme of American Prodigal as freedom, love and unity.
