Northwestern came home from the USF Classic with four wins last weekend. The Red Raiders are 8-0 on the season and ranked fifth nationally.
The women won over Dakota State 3-0 (25-14, 25-18 and 25-16) in their opener and finished up Friday night with a 3-1 (25-14, 25-18 and 25-16) win over Waldorf. Saturday led to more of the same as the Raiders beat Iowa Wesleyan 3-1 (25-5, 25-9, 19-25 and 25-15) and finished up the tournament with a 3-0 (25-21,25-13,25-12) defeat of MidAmerica Nazarene.
Senior outside hitter Hillary Hanno led NW with 55 kills and a .457 hitting percentage on the weekend. Senior Bobbie jean Rich and sophomore Kate Buyert contributed 2.2 and 1.8 kills/set respectively. Senior Kaitlin Beaver totaled 128 assists on the tournament. Buyert led the team with nine aces and junior Rylee Hulstein scrapped up 44 digs.
The Raiders breezed through their first conference game against Dakota Wesleyan 3-0 (25-10, 25-14 and 25-10).
The Tuesday night contest saw the Raiders improve to 9-0 (1-0) on the season and DW falls to 2-7 (0-1). NW hit .493 and held the visiting Tigers to .039 for the match in which they dominated in every aspect of the game. Hulstein had 10 digs and led the Raiders with nine kills. As a team, NW served up eight aces.
The Red Raiders will take their perfect record into Hastings this weekend for the Quality Hotel Tournament in Hastings, Neb.
