The Red Raider baseball team split games with Waldorf on Wednesday night, losing game one, 1-6, and winning the nightcap, 14-10.
In game one, Northwestern had six hits to Waldorf’s 11. Senior Brad Payne, junior Clint Gingerich, sophomore Steve Englund, senior Curt Bomgaars, junior Mike Zoellner and sophomore Matt Negaard each had one hit. Senior Bret Larson took the loss on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings. He allowed nine hits and one earned run, walking three and striking out seven. Sophomore Jesus Santoyo finished the game, giving up two hits.
The second game went in favor of the Raiders. They had 17 hits and Waldorf again had 11. Englund and Payne had three hits each and Payne had six RBIs. Bomgaars, Zoellner, Gingerich and sophomore Chris Butler each had two hits.
Freshman Stu Goslinga started on the mound, pitching three innings and giving up two hits and two earned runs. He walked two and struck out three. Junior Drew Nonnemacher pitched the next three innings. He gave up three hits and one earned run while walking two and striking two out. Sophomore Eddie Pantzlaff picked up the win, pitching 1.2 innings. He gave up two hits and no runs. Freshman Chase Rozeboom closed the game, giving up one hit and striking out one in one inning.
