On Saturday, Feb. 18, the Northwestern wrestling team travelled to Crete, Neb. to compte in the GPAC tournament. The team sent the maximum 12 wrestlers to compete at the tournament.
After a full day of matches, three Raiders came away with GPAC titles in their respective weight classes. Freshman Dante Preciado went 4-0 on the day and was named the champion of the 141-pound weight class.
Senior Andras Lukacs-Farkas picked up the title in the 174-pound weight class. Farkas went 3-0 on the day. Fellow senior Luis Rivera-Santiago won the GPAC in the 197-pound weight class.
Preciado, Farkas and Rivera-Santiago all qualified for the national tournament. Also qualifying were junior Nick Null (184) and senior Randy Null (285).
All five of these wrestlers were also named to All-GPAC wrestling teams. The team’s last appearance of the season will be at the NAIA National Championships, which will be hosted in Topeka, Kan. on March 3.
